Just as there are certain rules for worshipping God in the Hindu scriptures, there are also certain rules for eating. According to the scriptures, what are the mistakes we should not make when it comes to meals or food..? Here are 3 simple rules we should follow while eating.
It is said that food is very important for living and dishonouring food is disgracing God. According to Shastras, it is believed that Mother Annapurna and Goddess Lakshmi will not stay in a house where food is insulted. Dishonesty to food causes both money and food problems in that house. In Sanatana Dharma, the rules of doing everything in the right way are stated. Similarly, some rules related to food are mentioned in the scriptures. By following them there will never be a shortage of food in the house. Do you know what mistakes we should not make when it comes to food..? Don’t make these mistakes when it comes to food.
Some rules regarding food:
1. Washing hands on a plate:
Every grain of food is respected, and washing hands on plates after eating is a bad habit of some people. It is considered inauspicious according to Vastu Shastra. Washing dirty hands at the plate means dishonouring the particles of food. Doing so leads to poverty. So never wash your hands after a meal.
2. Leaving food on the plate:
He who does not understand the importance of food becomes a partner in sin. Eat only as much food as you can eat from the plate. It is believed that if the food is eaten half, the food will be wasted. Because if you don’t eat the whole of the food on the plate and leave it in half, that food is wasted. And this leads to the anger of Goddess Annapurna. And Goddess Lakshmi will be angry with you.
3. 3 rotis in one plate:
– According to Shastras, it is considered inauspicious to keep three rotis together on a plate while serving food.
– At the same time, the second belief is that 3 rotis are placed on a single plate and dedicated to the deceased. 3 rotis are placed on the plate only in the name of the deceased.
– Before Trayodashi rites in the name of the deceased, 3 Rotis are kept to offer to the deceased.
If we make these 3 mistakes mentioned in the scriptures when it comes to food, we will face problems related to money and food in our life. This makes us lose our respect for Annapurneswari and Goddess Lakshmi. So no matter how careful you are about these things in terms of food, it is not enough.
