Srimad Bhagavatam, Mahatmyam, Chapter 3 Sloka 23: Sutuovacha: Evam…Said Sutha: As all the sages, munis and others assembled (at Haridwar), Sage Narada and Sanat Kumaras walked in to deliver talk on the importance of Srimad Bhagavatam.

Srimad Bhagavatam, Mahatmyam, Chapter 3 Sloka 24: Kumaroochu: Athathe…Said Sanat Kumaras: Be blessed (Oh Narada Muni). We shall tell you the details of the text as propounded by Sukha Muni. Just listening to it would give you mukthi (liberation from all sorrows).

Srimad Bhagavatam, Mahatmyam, Chapter 3 Sloka 25: Sada savya…To your (Narada’s) question on how many days should be dedicated to the rendering of Srimad Bhagavatam, there is no such rule. The more you recite Srimad Bhagavatam, the more will you be immersed in the thought of Sri Hari.

Srimad Bhagavatam, Mahatmyam, Chapter 3 Sloka 26: Grantho…Srimad Bhagavatam comprises 18,000 slokas in 12 volumes. This is mainly a dialogue between Sri Sukha Muni and King Parikshit. Hey Narada, listen to Srimad Bhagavatam.

Srimad Bhagavatam, Mahatmyam, Chapter 3 Sloka 27: Tavatsamskara…So long as someone does not get an opportunity to hear the story narrated by Sukha Muni, he will continue to be in a whirlpool of worldly affairs full of misery and troubles.

Srimad Bhagavatam, Mahatmyam, Chapter 3 Sloka 28: Kim Shruteye…Of what use is to listen to other purunas which do not guarantee Mukti (Liberation). Srimad Bhagavatam is the only text that guarantees true liberation.

Srimad Bhagavatam, Mahatmyam, Chapter 3 Sloka 29: Katha…The houses where Srimad Bhagavatam is constantly read or recited, those houses will become places of worship. All the inmates of house will be free of sins.

Srimad Bhagavatam, Mahatmyam, Chapter 3 Sloka 30: Ashvameda…A thousand Ashvameda yagnas and 100 Vajapeya yagnas will not match the importance of Srimad Bhagavatam.

Srimad Bhagavatam, Mahatmyam, Chapter 3 Sloka 31: Taval papani…As long as a person does not hear or recite Srimad Bhagavatam, he will be in a cage of sins. But the moment he starts reciting Srimad Bhagavatam, all the sins would vanish.

Srimad Bhagavatam, Mahatmyam, Chapter 3 Sloka 32: Na Ganga…All the sacred rivers like Ganga, and holy places like Gaya Kashi, Pushkaram, Prayag  put together would not match the importance of Srimad Bhagavatam.

Srimad Bhagavatam, Mahatmyam, Chapter 3 Sloka 33: Slokartham…The recitation of even one word or sloka from Srimad Bhagavatam is enough for one’s liberation.

Srimad Bhagavatam, Mahatmyam, Chapter 3 Sloka 34-36: Vedadi…Dwadasha (35)…Tulasischa…(36): Holy mantras and texts like Omkara (the seed of Vedas), the mother of Vedas, the Gayatri, Purusha Sukta (a hymn comprising 16 mantras sacred to all human beings), the three Vedas (Rig, Sama and Yajur), Srimad Bhagavatam, the dwadashakshara mantra (12 syllable holy mantra Om Namo Bhagavathe Vasudevaya), the Sun God and other important texts, mantras, holy places, rivers, holy seasons and Lord Narayana have no distinction.

Srimad Bhagavatam, Mahatmyam, Chapter 3 Sloka 37: Yascha Bhagavatam: Whoever reads Srimad Bhagavatam regularly every day understanding the meaning of the texts, his sins of this generation and the past would get destroyed.

Interpretation: Just reading is not enough, one should also understand the meaning.

Srimad Bhagavatam, Mahatmyam, Chapter 3 Sloka 38: Slakartham…Whoever reads even one sloka daily understanding the meaning, his act will be equivalent to Rajasuya Yagna.

Srimad Bhagavatam, Mahatmyam, Chapter 3 Sloka 39: Uttam Bhagavatam…The noble deeds that a person should do daily are: recite atleast one sloka of Srimad Bhagavatam, medicate on Sri Hari, water holy Tulasi plant, feed cows.

Srimad Bhagavatam, Mahatmyam, Chapter 3 Sloka 40: Anthakalethu…Whoever is able to listen to Srimad Bhagavatam in his or her final days, that person will attain a place in Vaikundam (the holy abode of the Lord).

Srimad Bhagavatam, Mahatmyam, Chapter 3 Sloka 41: Hema Simha…Whoever (the rich) gifts Srimad Bhagavatam on a golden throne to Hari Bhaktas, that person will attain Moksha.

One need not literally take the above slokas, but the essence is that Srimad Bhagavatam is important in generating Bhakti among devotees.
