According to scriptures, during Ramayana and Mahabharata, few warriors had this weapon. As in Ramayana only Vibhishana and Lakshmana knew how to use it. At the same time, only Dronacharya, Ashwatthama, Sri Krishna, Kuvalashva, Yudhishthira, Karna, Pradyumna and Arjuna had the knowledge to conduct it during the Mahabharata period.
Who are the two warriors who practised Brahmastra?
Apart from Arjuna and Ashwatthama in the Mahabharata war, Karna knew how to use Brahmastra. But due to Guru Parasurama’s curse, Karna forgot to use it at the last moment. Ashwatthama, who had little knowledge of Brahmastra in the Mahabharata war, used it in anger at the end of the war. In return, Arjuna used Brahmastra on Ashwatthama. It started terrible destruction. Then the sages explained to Arjuna and Ashwatthama what kind of disaster the clash of these two great destructive weapons would bring upon the earth.
Shri Krishna also had information about Brahmastra
Lord Krishna had full knowledge of Brahmastra. Along with this Guru Drona and Arjuna also had full knowledge of it. When Arjuna and Ashwatthama were asked to stop this weapon in the Mahabharata war, Arjuna took it back because he had full knowledge, but Ashwatthama failed to take it back because he knew how to use it and did not have the knowledge to take it back. Due to this ignorance of Ashwatthama, he diverted it into the womb of Arjuna’s daughter-in-law Uttara. As a result, the baby in Uttara’s stomach died. Angered by this, Lord Krishna cursed Ashwatthama to wander with diseases for three thousand years. Later, Krishna revived Uttara’s womb with his penance.
