Karmanghat Hanuman Temple History

The History of the temple dated back to the 12th century AD. As per legend, a Kakatiya king went for hunting in the forest. After sometime as he felt tired, he sat down to take rest under a tree. In that time, he heard someone chanting the name of Lord Rama. Being curiosity he walked further into the deep forest to find. He discovered a stone idol of God Hanuman, in sitting posture and the voice is coming from the vigraha. He paid his respect towards the idol. After returned to his capital, Lord Hanuman appeared in his dream and asked him to construct a temple.

The temple was constructed immediately and the successive kings of the Kakatiya dynasty ruled it well. About 400 years later, Aurangzeb had ordered his armies to destroy all Hindus temples to all corners of the country.  When his armies came to this temple, they could not even enter near the compound wall. After this, Aurangzeb went there to break down the temple with a crow bar in his hand. Once he reached the temple place, he heard a fearful roar rumbling and the crowbar slipped from his hands in fear. Then he heard a divine voice from heaven “Mandir todna hai rajan, to kar man ghat” means “If you want to break down the temple, O King, harden your heart.”  The place got the name kar-man-ghat after the words.
